Established 1 September 2010
The project selected by APF International for the Vastgoed CV APF IX fund is the former Maple Leaf factory in Amsterdam (approx. 18,000 m²). The site has been successfully redeveloped by Lingotto to become a dynamic complex for the creative sector. To commemorate its past, the complex has been named De Kauwgomballen Fabriek (‘The Gum Ball Factory’).
The refinancing by private investors enables the developer’s interest in the De Kauwgomballen Fabriek to be reduced, whereupon Lingotto can make further acquisitions. Lingotto will nevertheless remain closely involved with the project as investor, site manager and developer (should any further conversion be undertaken).
The complex now has just under seventy tenants from the creative sector, including Q-music, EMI and Millward Brown. It is a world in itself. All segments of the creative sector are represented in the five main buildings, each of which has its own special form and identity, with lofts, studios, business accommodation, offices and ‘the Lab’.
Lingotto and APF International will continue to act as managing partners of the complex, responsible for all asset management activities.
The complex has its own website at:
